Quivira Dr & Park St Street and Storm Drainage Observation

Shawnee, KS

RIC was hired by the City of Shawnee to provide construction observation services for the construction of a new storm sewer system located at the intersection of Quivira Drive and Park Street. The project consisted of approximately 225 ft of 10’x9’ and 10’x8’ reinforced concrete culvert boxes that were installed in less than 4 days. Responsibilities included reviewing the project schedule, the shop drawing submittal schedule, and the schedule of values prepared by the contractor and determining acceptability. Our personnel conducted on-site observations of work and determined if work was in accordance with contract documents. Serving as the liaison between the contractor and consulting engineer, the field personnel reported any unsatisfactory or defective work or when clarifications were needed. Files containing correspondence, reports of job conferences, shop drawings, samples, and more were maintained. We also kept a logbook recording detailed information, including contractor hours on-site, personnel present, daily activities, specific observations, and test procedures. Reports were provided to the City and consulting engineer promptly after on-site visits.
