Job Summary

RIC is seeking land survey crew members to work on a team under a Survey Crew Chief to provide assistance performing preliminary, topographic, boundary, ALTA and as-built surveys as well as operating and maintaining survey equipment, taking field notes, and collecting data. Ideal candidates will be confident in their mathematical ability to make exact measurements and determine property boundaries as well as provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features for engineering purposes. Candidates without formal training in surveying will be given 2 – 4 weeks of training from our Kansas City, Kansas office location. Dependability and detail-orientation are essential. Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate and utilize all survey equipment — GPS and conventional in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic and engineering surveys
  • Work from notes, sketches, maps and other material to complete survey tasks with a minimum of supervision
  • Communicate with the crew chief before, during and after completion of field work to properly relay information on field conditions on-site
  • Prepare clear, informative and accurate field notes
  • Work cooperatively in a multiple crew setting
  • Take responsibility for the maintenance, repair and welfare of all equipment in the field including the work vehicle

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license must be possessed and maintained
  • Land survey experience or industry knowledge preferred
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be physically able to perform tasks such as walking, standing, and bending throughout the day
  • Work effectively and professionally with internal team members
  • Ability to learn quickly and communicate effectively
  • Organized and punctual
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Ability to travel to and from job sites as well as out of town on occasion
  • Ability to lift or transport up to 75 pounds if needed
  • Pass a background check and have only minor criminal offenses on their record
  • Pass a drug screen

Education Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 years experience is preferred, can be substituted for field experience
  • Must have a solid understanding of algebra, trigonometry and geometry
